9/11 2006 SPA works towards peace.

On 9/11/06 we remember that 5 years ago, thousands of Americans lost their lives in the terrible terrorist attack on New York City’s World Trade Center. We also remember that a little over a year ago on August 29th, hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf coast, taking the lives of thousands of Americans as well.

We honor America’s dead and work for peace today. At the start of each class today, each of us will fold a paper crane. Over summer school, San Pasqual Academy students folded 500 cranes. We want to finish the job today. It is our goal to send 1000 cranes from San Pasqual Academy, along with thousands of cranes from other JCCS schools, to Japan’s Children’s Monument in Hiroshima’s Peace Park.

Let this act serve as a symbol of our willingness to work for peace among fellow Americans and between other nations as well.
